Get to know your Island Bean Baristas! Check out our Barista Picks on the menu page. Barista - noun, a person who makes and serves coffee (as espresso) to the public. Paul and Dorie - Owners/operators of Island Bean Company. After deciding to open their own business, Paul and Dorie spent two very long, hard years researching, building, and opening Island Bean Company. Paul and Dorie strive to make Island Bean Company a success for their customers, staff, and themselves. It's no surprise that the theme of the coffee shop is "Island" since that is where the passion for these two is. Any chance they get, they run off the Caribbean for some much deserved fun and relaxation! Sarah- Sarah first came to Island Bean as a daily customer. When she decided to make a job change, we said "Welcome Aboard." Sarah is slightly obsessed with good coffee and claims that Island Bean has the best coffee around. She attends college full time and is majoring in International Affairs and Peace Keeping. Jason - Jason loves working in a coffee shop! He says it's the first job he really doesn't mind going to. Jason worked at another coffee shop but found out it was closing, so he started shopping the other area coffee shops and landed at Island Bean Company. Jason plays guitar in a local Pittsburgh band, "Failure to Fall" and is recently engaged. Caitlin - Caitlin also loves working in a coffee shop and also came to Island Bean Company after the coffee shop she and Jason were working in closed. Caitlin is a full time college student majoring in business. Upon graduation, she plans to move to New York City to pursue her desire to work for a major magazine company! Sarah- Sarah has been working at Island Bean Company since the summer of 2007. She is a freshmen in college. Sarah came to Island Bean by way of her sister, Aly, who also works here. It's becoming a family tradition! Sarah very much enjoys music and someday would like to work with animals. Aly- Aly holds the title of "1st Bean." Aly was Island Bean's very first employee. She is currently away at college but you will see her at the coffee shop during school breaks and all summer long. Aly is very interested in fashion and psychology, which is her major in college. She also sometimes dreams of becoming a Nascar Driver, Go Aly! Courtney - Courtney also started working at Island Bean during the early stages. She, too, is away at college but comes back to work during breaks and in the summer. As well as making great coffee, Courtney is a lifeguard, teaches swimming lessons to kids, does volunteer work and manages to keep her grades high! | | Customer Testimonials:

I have to let you both know how much I enjoy your excellent coffee! I really appreciate the convenience, the fast and friendly service, and the really reasonable prices that you offer. And if all that weren't enough, you consistently make THE BEST cup of coffee around! Island Bean Company is a daily stop in my routine now. They carry the most flavors to add to your coffee, many more than other coffee shops, even sugar free ones. Island Bean has great favorites like Coconut Cream, Mocha Mint, and Almond Joy to give your coffee an extra kick. The people who wait on you are the friendliest and nicest servers anywhere - I feel like they are friends I talk to everyday. Obviously, the best part about "that coffee place on McKnight Road" is that you never leave your car which is great in the winter or rain or even when you have your kids in the car. North Hills, Pgh, PA AHHH, remember the good old days when customers were treated with TLC and pride went into every product? Well the good old days are here at the Island Bean. Whether you enjoy regular coffee or something more exotic you are sure to be pleased at Island Bean. Many times you are greeted by one of the owners, Paul or Dorie, or one of the several baristas they employ. Each of them makes you feel like you are the most important person in their world at that moment. From knowing what I like , to remembering details I have shared about my family and life, they seem to truly care about me! The coffee at Island Bean is an experience in itself, brewed to perfection with robust coffee flavor and aroma and served at the perfect temperature, by far the finest I have ever had.
